Recently, I had the pleasure of talking with EDM legend, JES. The New York native vocalist, songwriter, producer, and DJ has been an essential part of the EDM scene, collaborating with superstars such as ATB, BT, Cosmic Gate, Tiesto, Morgan Page and many more. She started her career at a young age and has been consistently growing as an artist. She is “in love with the music process”, and 2014 will be filled with new singles, collaborations and mixes.

Growing up in New York, JES was always surrounded by a mix of diverse music. If she wasn’t singing in the choir, she was watching her mom perform at a music theater, or finding new ways to improve the music she was listening to. At the age fourteen, she got her first break by answering an ad on the “The Village Place” and recorded her first record “Wasted on Your Love”.

IAMMUZYKA: What have you been up to lately?
JES: 2014 has turned out to be a very busy year already! I’m just back in LA after spending sometime working on new songs in New York. It’s such an inspirational place for me. Simply being in that city generates new ideas for me so I love to spend time there just to kick-start my creativity. My production company has recently moved into a beautiful new studio in LA. We have been renovating and remodeling the building which has been equally exciting and exhausting. I have recently finished a bunch of new top-secret collaborations. I’ve been working on some new recipes (I love to cook!) and I’m preparing for the release of my new mix compilation album called “Unleash The Beat Platinum Mix” on February 17th.

Vibe Magazine has named JES one of the Top 10 Female Dance Music acts of 2013. Her Platinum mix CD drops February 17^th, and it is the 4^th in its series. JES celebrates this month in style with the release of the platinum mix of her Unleash The Beat series on February 17th. The first in four glittering continuous mixes to be released throughout 2014, Unleash The Beat – The Platinum Mix features hand-selected tracks that have become staples in JES’ sets, including the Pedro Del Mar & DoubleV Remix of Tiesto ft JES – “Everything,” Ferry Corsten ft. JES – “In Your Eyes” [Dirty Chips Remix Clubmix], Roger Shah JES & Brian Laruso – “Higher Than The Sun” (Aly & Fila Remix), and more.

“Making my previous Unleash The Beat comps has been such a blast but I wanted to raise the bar so I came up with the idea for quarterly mini mixes between the big annual, double album releases to keep the vibe alive for the fans,” says JES.

After a successful 2013 packed with back-to-back singles, the release of her album Unleash The Beat Volume 2, and almost 70 episodes of her radio show on over 50 stations worldwide, JES has already taken 2014 up a notch by collaborating with ATB for three tracks on his latest album Contact, performing at the TEC Awards with BT at NAMM in January, and bringing her live DJ show to cities like Miami and Dallas.

“I’ve always heard music as colors and naming them after what inspired me seemed like the natural choice,” she says. “When the mixes blend at exactly the right moment, it moves you into a new dimension. That feeling is like platinum to me. Take a listen and see where it takes you!”

Launching to massive critical and fan acclaim ATB’s new album “Contact” (Kontor Records January 24th) features 3 massive JES collaborations sure to live up to the highest expectations. “Hard To Cure” is a trance anthem that combines JES’ trademark spine tingling vocals with ATB’s chill infused progressive production.
