JES-CLOSER Video Debut On AOL

JES’ video for “Closer” is rich with all the vibrancy that’s expected of JES. From her structured outfits to her colorful makeup and signature crystal-like eyepiece, everything about her here is extravagant. At the same time, none of this takes away from what is a killer performance video. The clip starts off with JES and her backup dancers holding long rods of light. It’s a bit of a bizarre prop until you realize it’s used to illuminate the tight choreography that ensues throughout the video. “Closer” offers a great visual of lighting, mirror and camera tricks as you see JES in different perspectives. In one frame, you even see JES at her most intimate where her makeup is bare and her hair is let down. Her presence demands attention like no other, and amidst all of the dancing and different lighting, you’ll feel like you’re in a club yourself alongside by JES. Produced by Katheryne KTEE Thomas and directed by Ian Lyman and JES, this video’s message is as deep and touching as JES’ voice itself, every legacy is laced with tragedies of the heart.

JES is proud to announce her participation in the global NOH8 Campaign. JES joins a distinguished list of celebrities and dignitaries who have posed for the iconic photo to raise awareness for equality. The NOH8 Campaign was created in protest of Proposition 8, California’s anti same-sex marriage law of 2008. The portraits, by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and co-founder Jeff Parshley, feature celebrities with duct tape over their mouth and the letters NOH8 written across their cheek, which illustrates their voices being silenced by Prop 8.

“I am very excited to be part of the NOH8 campaign. Equality is what brings us together as a nation, makes us stronger and will propel us into harmony,” says Jes. “I’m proud to be one of the many faces that aid this cause.”

Nearly two years since its inception, the NOH8 Campaign has grown to over 4,500 faces and continues to grow at an exponential rate. The campaign began with portraits of everyday Californians from all walks of life and soon rose to include politicians, military personnel, newlyweds, law enforcement, artists, celebrities, and many more.

JES and Johan Gielen under his moniker Airscape has won 1st place in the Dance/Electronica genre for ISC (International Songwriting Competition) with their hit collaboration, “My Love.”

“My Love,” was an irresistible summer 2009 collaboration that landed the #10 spot on AOL?s year end dance genre chart and earned top spots on Clear Channel?s I-Heart Radio. The US release of the song, was also the first for JES’ personal label Planetjes_digital.

Established in 2002, ISC honors amateur and professional songwriters around the world and awards more than $150,000 in cash and prizes in all. Winners are selected from almost 15,000 entries from all around the world. In all my years of listening to music, I have purchased many a CD or album specifically for only one or two songs. “Thank you, Jes,” for compiling so many great tracks on your albums that allow us to listen to these perfectly mastered compilations without interruption! Metallica, Pearl Jam, Sade, Björk, U2, The Police, Sheryl Crow, The Cure, Prince, Tiësto, David Guetta, Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, and Michael Jackson are just a few artists that come to mind, who no doubt, have the skill to do the same.
